The book was inspired by a sermon series preached by Redemption Church's Pastor Ron Carpenter in April 2023. Ron's message about "open doors" was an on-time word for Josh and Leah after navigating a difficult season with their son’s health. Months after reflecting on the sermon series and particularly the story of Paul and Silas, they sat down and wrote the book in an hour. Though Josh and Leah have always talked about writing children's books which pass on their values, they both agree that this book was a gift from God that was meant to be shared with the world.

The book was published on November 21, 2023 and is now available through this site, on Amazon, and where books are sold online.

Josh and Leah reached out to Alyson Record on Instagram, because she has illustrated one of their family's favorite children's books called "Go God Go" by Gene Krcelic. Josh and Leah knew Alyson was gifted, but also wanted to use an illustrator that aligned with their faith and values. There was a great connection on the introductory calls, and Josh and Leah couldn't be happier with the creative direction Alyson has taken the pictures and layout.
